Important updates for the EMG and all modules

Hey,

we have some good news for you. Some customers have issues with the installation of the EMG and so far we could only tell them that this is a issue on their side. We took some time to investigate this and found the cause for most of the customers with this issue. The issue is indeed not causes by the EMG but by a misconfiguration of curl and the SSL algorithms that it should use. We found a way to fix this issue by adjusting our products, so it does now even work if customers use this misconfigured systems.

In short words, we updated the EMG and all modules. So if you are having the mentioned issue, go ahead and update everything and you’ll have a good chance that it works now.

We also updated some modules cause they did not worky anymore due to changes at their video portals. This modules are: Vimeo, Metacafe and SoundCloud. The changelogs for this modules are available at their sub forums.

This updates are another step into making sure that as many as possible customers can use our products, even if the system is not configured properly. We hope that you enjoy that.

Product and support videos

Hey everyone,

we have great news for you. From now on we will release videos for our products, for example instruction videos. This videos should make it as easy as possible to use our products and get the maximum out of them.

We started by creating a video series for our SafeGuard Pro. Please click here to get to the playlist.

Time for a change

Hello,

if you have purchased at least one of our products (especially the Easy Media Grabber) then you might be aware of problems with our current host. This problems affect the whole network (Website, API, Demos), and can lead to problems with the installed product. Over the last months we were constantly in contact with our host, but they are not able to resolve it for some reason.

We already prepared the next steps in the background, which will now (or over the next days) take place. This is what we are going to do:

  • Move every part of our Network on a own server in separate datacenters
    This is obviously more expensive, but it has huge security advantages. If one part of our site is down (e.g. the API) then you can still use the other parts (e.g. the main website).
  • Optimize the web servers
    We will optimize each of this web servers, depending on what they exactly need to do, to get the best performance out of them.

We will start with moving the website to one of the new servers, so you might experience some downtime or an abnormal behaviour over the next couple of days. It is also possible that a couple of forum posts get lost, however that shouldn’t be much.

# Update 1: 10/13/2014:

The main site (https://gewora.net) has been transfered to the new server. You should feel a significant performance boost. The other parts (API and demos) do not work currently, we will transfer them as soon as possible and updated this post. Please let us know if you experience any other problems.

# Update 2: 10/13/2014:

The API has been restored, so you should now be able to reactivate your purchased products and perform any other calls to our API. We will transfer the demos very soon. Please let us know if you experience any problems.

# Update 3: 10/14/2014:

The demos have almost been restored, everything is working except for the WordPress demos. We will fix this as soon as possible.

# Update 4: 10/29/2014:

We had to move the demos back to the old host until we have sorted out some issues. The demos will be restored one by one within the next days.

# Update 5: 11/02/2014:

Everything has been restored and should work fine. Please let us know if you are experiencing any issues.

Maintenance 05/21/2014

Update 05/23/2014:

We just updated our modules for the Easy Media Grabber. Please make sure to update them as soon as possible to keep them working.

In order to download the updated files click here and just download the file(s) again. Extract them and upload them to your webspace. Overwrite the existing files.

we just did a short maintenance to our network.

There has been a thing that was overdue. SSL. We now support & force SSL for the gewora.net/* contents. This will make browsing on our sites much more secure.

We will roll out a update for all of our products within the next days to prepare them for SSL as well. After that we will apply SSL over our whole network.

We did also some changes at the backend to increase our website speed and security even more.

Big maintenance very soon & TubeSaver information

Update – 2014/04/12:

We are almost done with the maintenance. Our site is now running on the new server (should be a lot faster now) and our other services are also back online.

The only thing that does not work as it should, are the e-mails. You will most likely get a error back if you try to contact us over e-mail. We are looking forward to fix this issue very soon.

Also once again, please keep in mind that we did not import users or posts from the previous server. You have to register a new account, if you need one. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Update – 2014/04/02:

The upstream problems have been resolved to a state which is okay for us. There is still much room for improvement, however we do not want to loose any more time. We will perform some final preparations before proceed with the described steps (below) very soon.

Update – 2014/03/29:

It has been a week now and we still could not start with the maintenance. Sadly there are upstream issues at the new datacenter, which we want to get fixed before we actually move over with all of our data.
We are in contact with them and hope that they can get it to a stable state very soon. We will keep you updated here.

we want to inform you about the upcoming maintenance, and about the removed TubeSaver here.
Let´s start with the bad news, the TubeSaver. Maybe you already saw that our TubeSaver got removed from the Envato Marketplaces.

The reason for this is that YouTube added this new paragraph to their TOS very recently:

5. Your Use of Content
“You shall not download any Content unless you see a “download” or similar link displayed by YouTube on the Service for that Content”

First of all, it is not illegal to do that (at least in many countries – you might have to contact a lawyer if you want to be completely sure), since you do the exact same thing when you watch a video directly on your site.

We guess that Envato just do not take any risk, which is understandable at some point. However it is quite sad for our clients & for us.

Since we can’t get the item back to the marketplace without doing huge changes, we have to accept that.

We had to make a decision, if we still provide support for the TubeSaver. Unfortunately we had to decide that we can’t do that any longer. It would just not be profitable to provide support for a 20$ product (the half goes to Envato), when we are no longer able to sell it.

We are very sorry about this, but hope that you can understand us at some point.

Let´s move on to the second point of this post, the better one.

We are going to launch a big maintance very soon. There are some things that we do with this maintenance. We will most likely start with it at the weekend. The ETA is 48 hours, just in case that something does not work as expected. However, most likely it won’t take that long.

The first one is that we move to another server. The new server should be much faster then the current one.

We will also change the way how the access to the support forums is handled. Currently you have to redeem your purchase code at a different page. This solution is not very user friendly and caused some not needed trouble.

In the future you can directly enter your purchase code when you click on the corresponding forums.

This change does not allow us to import the existing users & topics (from the support forums). We will provide How-Tos for the most asked questions to make it easier to get started.

Well, that was all. Oh wait…

We will also roll out a new product very soon. We won’t tell you what it is, but trust us, 90% of our current customers will love it.

TubeSaver – Protected YouTube Videos

we decided to open a small blog so we can give u guys informations about what we currently do.

As you may know, there is currently no way to download protected videos with our TubeSaver.
We will now give u informations about this protected videos and what we currently work out to download them.

1) What is a protected video?
YouTube comes up with a annoying system to protect videos with many hits or from big labels e.g. VEVO, in order to make it much harder to download them from their servers.

2) How does the protection work?
Well, it took us a long time to find out how their system works. The first point is that the same video is not protected everywhere. For example most of the videos which are protected in the US are not protected in Europe.

Their encryption system itself is very annoying. The use a special cipher algorithm to encode this videos. So in order to download them you need to crack this algorithm.

Unfortunately they make it even harder by changing this algorithm about 2-3 times a week.

3) What do we work out in order to get rid of that?

Some days ago we were able to crack the current algorithm. However there is still the problem that this will not help us that much since they change it anyways very soon.

We could update the TubeSaver with the current algorithm every 2 days but to be honest that would be a waste of time for both our customers and for us.

Thats why we started to work out a system which will automatically crack their algorithm when they changed it, and will also automatically update your TubeSaver installation without the need that you do anything.

4) How long will we need for that?

That’s a bit hard to say. We will most likely get it done within a week if everything goes fine.

The explained system has been finished and is now available since TubeSaver version 2.1.
